John Legend Pets, a new venture by the world-renowned musician and entrepreneur, aims to provide premium pet products that embody luxury, quality, and care. The brand needed a robust online presence to reach its target audience of pet lovers who seek high-end products for their furry companions.
The project involved developing a luxury, user-friendly Shopify store that would ensure seamless experiences across both mobile and desktop platforms while emphasizing the brand’s commitment to sustainability and quality. A key challenge was crafting an online identity that would appeal not only to John Legend’s fans but also to a broader pet-loving audience. This required balancing aesthetics with functionality and building a scalable platform capable of handling high traffic during promotions.
Developed four regional headless websites using a centralized Shopify Plus + Sanity CMS architecture, deployed on a shared Vercel-hosted codebase. The solution is a server-side rendered application built with React.js and the Next.js framework, enabling scalable performance and streamlined global content management. Additionally, we built a fully custom, step-by-step quiz using React.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript. The quiz delivers personalized results—including daily calorie calculations for dog food—and seamlessly integrates with Klaviyo to power personalized email flows and performance marketing campaigns.
The launch was a major success, generating strong sales and enthusiastic customer feedback while establishing a powerful brand presence in the competitive pet market. It also garnered national attention, with features on Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, and The Drew Barrymore Show.
